This season the Fantasy Doctor will answer a few of our readers' fantasy questions on an almost daily basis, Monday through Friday. Send your questions to the Doc at the address above.

I’ve got the 1st and 5th pick in a 12-team startup dynasty league, with traditional PPR scoring (1 point reception). I got the 5th pick through trading and essentially sacrificing my 2nd-4th round picks. Anyway, despite it being PPR, I plan to draft Adrian Peterson with pick 1.  But for pick #5, which would you rather have (assuming LaDainian Tomlinson, Brian Westbrook and Steven Jackson are gone with picks 2-4):

1) Frank Gore
2) Joseph Addai
3) Marion Barber
4) Marshawn Lynch
5) Tom Brady

— Brian Hatch

The fifth pick will be a difficult one to have in fantasy leagues this season, mainly because of the Tom Brady factor. In years past, the No. 5 choice almost automatically would've been a running back, but Brady's incredible '07 season makes him a more-than-viable option at that spot. In fact, compared to the backs who will be available at No. 5, I probably would go ahead and take Brady. He's a sure bet to have another huge season, and though he almost certainly won't throw 50 TDs again, something around 35 scores and well over 4,000 yards is very realistic. If you really want a RB, however, I'd go with Joseph Addai, who again should be a scoring machine for the Colts.

Dear Doc,
I have a dilemma in my 12-team keeper auction league. We are allowed to keep up to three transitional players for $10 apiece or one franchise player for $25. The money we spend on our keepers counts against our $150 cap. We get to pick 15 players total. Our point system is 1 point for every reception, 6 points for TDs, 1 point for every 25 yards gained and 3 bonus points if the player goes over 100 yards. I have to choose between Braylon Edwards for $10 or Marion Barber for $25. Last year, a lot of the teams kept running backs and the prices skyrocketed on them with LaDainian Tomlinson going for $95, Steven Jackson going for $75 and so on. We also have as part of our roster one flex player that can be an RB, QB, TE, or WR. Our starting lineup is 1 QB, 2 RBs, 1 TE, 2 WRs, 1 K, 1 DST and 1 Flex player. Which player would you keep, Edwards or Barber?

— Michele Cinque

I can see your predicament here, as these two players are very close in our overall rankings. If it were up to me, I'd keep Marion Barber. Even at $25, he's a very good value, especially considering that the top backs are going for such high prices. He'll take over an increased workload this season and should find paydirt time after time. I think he'll prove well worth the $25 price tag. Braylon Edwards represents a great value at $10, especially after his breakout '07 season, but it's probably smarter to hold on to the RB and find other receivers during the draft.
