This season the Fantasy Doctor will answer a few of our readers' fantasy questions on an almost daily basis, Monday through Friday. Send your questions to the Doc at the address above.
Hey Doc,
I am in a keeper league (10 teams) where we can only keep two RBs. Right now I have three backs worth holding onto: Steven Jackson, Marshawn Lynch and Willis McGahee. Our scoring system is pretty standard (6 pts for pass/rush/receiving TD, 1 pt for 10 rush/receiving yards, 1 pt for 25 pass yards). I have been offered Drew Brees for Marshawn Lynch. My only QB worth his spit is Eli "The Lesser" Manning. Now last year showed that QBs are as important as RBs in fantasy. So, should I pull the trigger, or are McGahee's injury issues enough to force me to hold onto Lynch? I am leaning towards making the deal and rolling the dice with Jackson and McGahee as my keeper backs. Brees, Jackson and McGahee sounds better than Manning, Jackson and Lynch, yes? Am I nuts? Thanks in advance for the advice.

Whew, I think this is one of the tougher questions I've received. Normally, I would say that Lynch is too good to give up, even for a top QB like Brees, but I'm not positive in this case. I think Jackson will be fine now that he's back in camp, but McGahee's injury scares me a bit. He says he'll be back for Week One, but that's no guarantee. Plus, the knee he had surgery on is the same one he tore up five years ago, so you don't know if that's something that can linger. You know what, I think I just convinced myself that you shouldn't make this trade. On top of McGahee's situation, Lynch is simply too valuable in a keeper league to trade away — he's going to be a star for years to come. Having him and S-Jax is a great duo that you shouldn't break up. You probably won't be that bad off with Eli as your QB, anyway. He seemed to have finally come around in the playoffs last season, and I bet he has a nice year.
Yo doc,
I've got a small but nice dilemma. 4 player, 12 team keeper league. I have: Ben Roethlisberger, Joseph Addai, Brian Westbrook, Terrell Owens, T.J. Houshmandzadeh and Kellen Winslow. We play PPR, standard scoring, with yardage bonuses. The obvious choice is to keep the 2 WRs & 2 RBs and ditch Ben and Winslow. I draft 9th and think finding a quality receiver to replace Housh may be easier than finding a TE that gives me the edge Winslow does. I don't think Big Ben is even a consideration as a few decent QBs should be available even for my second pick. What do you think?
— Drew, Vancouver, B.C.
Assuming that Addai, Westbrook and T.O. are definitely keepers, Drew, it's just a matter of picking one more. I agree that Big Ben is out of the running, so it's down to Housh or Winslow. Although we have Housh ranked higher, I see your point about Winslow and think he's probably the better keeper for you. If you keep Winslow, you're set at TE. And like you said, you should be able to get a decent WR with your first-round pick. So it looks like you answered this question yourself, but I'm glad I could help you confirm your answer.
