Doc! I need help because I can't figure out which would be the better route to go. I am in a keeper league where I have already kept Joseph Addai, Braylon Edwards and Roy Williams, and receptions count a point each. I have the first overall pick, and using PFW's Fantasy Magazine rating, I figure my top availible RBs are Ryan Grant, Maurice Jones-Drew and Earnest Graham (or Darren McFadden?). However, both Reggie Wayne and Marques Colston are available too. What do you think?
— Tyler the Tormented
Clearly a tough decision here, Tyler, but I'd take advantage of your PPR rules and take a receiver. I figure that you might as well load up at the position that benefits you most here instead of grabbing a RB who's not even a top-10 guy. That said, I like Wayne a little better than Colston. I think he's more reliable from week to week and probably will end up with the slightly better numbers of the two. I can understand your desire to get a quality back, but I prefer stocking my team with top wideouts in PPR leagues. Just make sure you use your next couple of picks on RBs.
Hi. I have a dilemma that I am hoping you can help with. I am going to have a choice between Larry Fitzgerald, Braylon Edwards and Reggie Wayne in a keeper league. The settings at receiver are 1pt per 10 yards, 7pts for TD, .25 per reception and bonus points at 90 and 160 yards (3 for each). Just curious which of the 3 if you had your choice do you think would be the best and is poised to have the best overall year? Thanks.
— Garrick
Well, Garrick, since TDs are clearly the most valuable thing in your league, I'd lean toward taking Edwards. To me, he's the best bet to have a huge year in the scoring department. He had 16 TDs last season and could match or surpass that mark again. If receptions were worth more than .25 point, I might have gone with Fitzgerald instead, but when it takes 28 catches to equal one TD, guys who catch a lot of passes but don't score aren't all that valuable. Stick with Braylon and you should be on your way to a good season.
