What up doc,
So I'm loaded at RB right now, and I'm shopping a few of them for an upgrade at receiver in a league that starts 2 RBs, 2 WRs and one flex. My RBs are Frank Gore, Maurice Jones-Drew, Thomas Jones, Chris Johnson, Felix Jones and Ricky Williams. My receivers are Anquan Boldin, Steve Smith and Devery Henderson. I'm feeling inclined to offer M.J.D. over the others. He was my second-round pick, but his O-line is dropping like flies and he's in a tough division. Should I try pairing him with someone like Felix or Ricky and go after an elite, or should I take a wait-and-see approach until Steve Smith comes back from suspension?

Well, Jimmy, that is a lopsided roster, but you might not be in as bad of shape as you think. Boldin proved how great he can be last week with his 140-yard, three-TD effort, and I expect Smith to be very good once he returns this week. You definitely lack receiver depth, though, so some sort of trade is in order. After M.J.D.'s slow start, I don't know how high his value is at the moment, so maybe he's not the best guy to deal right now. Same goes for Ricky Williams. I figure you don't want to trade Gore or Chris Johnson, so you're best option here might be Thomas Jones. He's gotten off to a nice start and could probably net you a solid No. 3 WR. That would really help your depth at wideout while not hurting you too badly at RB.
Help Doc! Bum thumb leads to lineup surgery. I'm in a 12-team league. I have been offered Brandon Marshall and Ryan Grant for Brian Westbrook and Jonathan Stewart. Am I crazy for possibly taking this trade? My other RBs are Marshawn Lynch and Chris Perry. My other WRs are Marques Colston (out), Torry Holt, Roddy White, Derrick Mason and David Patten. The waivers have been totally picked over. What's your remedy? Thanks.
— Paul
While this trade might be a nice quick fix for your team, Paul, I don't think I like it in the long run. It looks like a fellow owner is trying to take advantage of your losing Colston by getting as much as possible for Marshall, which certainly is a good strategy on his part. And although it would be great having Marshall while Colston is out for the next month, you'd have to give up too much to get him, especially after his 18-catch game. Your backfield trio of Westbrook, Lynch and Stewart is very strong, and breaking it up will probably hurt you more than it'll help you. If anything, maybe try to trade Stewart or Perry for a lesser WR that you can plug in for the next few weeks. If you can get by the stretch in which Colston is sidelined, you should be in great position once he returns.
