I'm in a 12-team league with 2 RBs and 3 WRs required to start every week. I have been offered Terrell Owens and Marshawn Lynch for Brian Westbrook and Derrick Mason or Bernard Berrian. Should I take it? My other RBs are Willis McGahee, Chris Johnson and Matt Forte. My other WRs are Roddy White, DeSean Jackson, and Bryant Johnson. The waivers have been totally picked over. Thanks.

Very interesting trade offer, Ruben. I know Westbrook is a great player and it'd be difficult to give him up, but I really think this would be a good deal for you. I think it's safe at this point to say that Lynch is the real deal, seeing as he's already scored four TDs. So while he's a downgrade from Westbrook, he's not a big drop-off. Meanwhile, you'd get a huge boost at WR, which you're a bit thin at, by getting T.O. I don't think Mason or Berrian are going to be impact players this season, but Owens definitely is. He easily could lead the league in receiving TDs. So my advice would be to accept this offer, preferably trading away Mason over Berrian, before the other owner thinks better of it.
Hey Doc,
I have a issue at RB with Larry Johnson. Being on an awful team and the recent criticism, I really think this year will be lost with Larry Johnson, or what little help he could be later this season might come too late. I didn't like him on draft day, but there were complications (draft started without me because the White Sox and Rays went into extra innings that day) so he ended up being my first pick. Should I ride out the storm or try to get something in return while I can? Thanks!

If I were you, Joel, I'd get what I can for L.J. as soon as possible. I'm in agreement with you that this could be a long year for him. His team has no passing game, an inexperienced offensive line and a defense that will have the Chiefs trailing early in games. He's already expressed frustration with his scaled-back role, and things could get worse as the season progresses. Coming off a pretty big game against Atlanta — 121 yards and a TD — Johnson's value might be higher now than it'll be at any point going forward. If you can work out a trade for him this week or after his game with the bad Denver defense on Sunday, you'll be thanking yourself. As long as you can get decent value for him, it's best to deal him now before he's worth nothing.
