I need a doctor! Is Chris Johnson a sell-high candidate? The "rookie wall" scares me for this 200 lb. talent...
— Brian
Man, tough question here, Brian. Obviously, there are always concerns regarding rookies, especially smaller ones like Johnson. Many of them — most notably, running backs — are going to wear down at some point, some worse than others. But remember that not all rookies necessarily hit a wall. Just look back at last season. Two rookie RBs, Adrian Peterson and Marshawn Lynch, played great all season and didn't appear to slow down much toward the end. I have a feeling that Johnson is going to fit in that same mold. The Titans do a good job of keeping him fresh by rotating him with LenDale White, and Johnson appears to be pretty durable thus far. Based on that, I wouldn't trade him unless you get a ridiculous offer that you can't refuse. Other than that, though, hold on to the rookie and watch him be a fantasy force.
Hey doctor!
Longtime reader here. I want your advice on a trade. I am in a league that starts 2 RBs and 3 WR/TEs. No TE is necessary. Is a trade of Earnest Graham and Antonio Gates for Selvin Young and Randy Moss a good trade for me? I have Graham and Gates. My current top RBs are Brian Westbrook, LenDale White, Graham, and Sammy Morris. My top WR/TEs are Chad Ocho Cinco, Braylon Edwards, Gates, and Vincent Jackson. Do I do the deal? Thanks!
— Brad
Well, Brad, looking at this trade and the makeup of your roster, I would not make the deal. The way I see it, Graham is clearly better than Young, who is part of a timeshare, and Moss is not a guy I'd want to trade for right now. His numbers have been terrible since Tom Brady went down, and I'm not sure they're going to get much better in the coming weeks. Gates, meanwhile, is a consistent producer who will always be good for a healthy number of TDs. Plus, you're not that deep at RB, so trading away a fairly dependable back like Graham could hurt you in the long run. I'd stick with the team you have now and just hope that Chad and Braylon come around sooner rather than later.
