I have teams in three leagues, and Deuce McAllister is available in all of them. His 20 carries and a TD for a prolific Saints offense in Week Four have me wondering whether I should pick him up. The candidates to be shown the door on my three teams would be Jamal Lewis, Thomas Jones and Ryan Grant. Should I cut any or all of these guys and go with Deuce?

— Robert B. Palmer

Given the way they've played thus far, I can understand why you'd be ready to cut Lewis, Jones and Grant. But I can't recommend dropping any of those guys for McAllister. Coming off that great effort last week against the Niners, Deuce certainly is an intriguing option on the waiver wire, but I'd need to see more than one good game out of him before I add him at the expense of a decent player. Remember, he has a history of knee issues and could go down at any moment. And although it looks bleak for the three backs you mentioned, I'm not ready to totally give up hope on them just yet. If you have a scrub to cut for McAllister, then go ahead and make the move, but don't drop a potentially quality RB for him right now.

Hey Doc,
Longtime reader and second time asking for some RX before I fall to 1-4. I think I have a decent team, but they're not "clicking" just yet. How would you set my lineup if you had my team for Week Five? Thanks!
Pick 1 QB: Matt Hasselbeck or Carson Palmer
Pick 2 RBs: Marion Barber, Steve Slaton, Michael Turner and Edgerrin James
Pick 3 WRs: Brandon Marshall, Jerricho Cotchery, Antonio Bryant, Brandon Lloyd and Bryant Johnson
Pick 1 TE: Dallas Clark or Bo Scaife

— Bill, Concord, N.C.

Sure, Bill, I'll try to help you out. At QB, it's looking like Palmer will play Sunday after missing last week with a sore elbow, so I'd start him. I don't really like Hasselbeck's matchup against the Giants. At RB, I consider Barber and Turner to be automatic starts, so I think you have to go with those two. I think Slaton will have a nice week, too, but I can't see starting him over your other two guys. At WR, Marshall and Cotchery should be weekly starts, so it's just a matter of picking a third guy. Since Lloyd and Johnson are both banged up, I'd choose Bryant, who has a great matchup at Denver. Finally, at TE I would start Clark. I know he's been disappointing thus far, but he's going to break out soon, and it very well could be this week. Remember to drink lots of orange juice and take long naps, and rest easy knowing these tips will bolster your fantasy health.
