Hey Doc,
I need your help picking two starters from the following four wide receivers. I have Donald Driver, Bobby Engram, Marvin Harrison and Chad "Ocho Stinko." I’m leaning towards starting Engram since he gets a lot of looks from QB Matt Hasselbeck, especially now that WR Deion Branch is injured again. My other choice would be the headcase Chad Johnson. The Bengals are going against the Jets this week, and they're ranked second to last in defending the pass. Thanks.

— Steve

A tricky decision here, Steve. I'd first eliminate Harrison from consideration, as he's struggled of late and has a terrible matchup vs. the Ravens. Then, I'll actually recommend starting Driver. He hasn't been great, but he's still been productive this season and has a great matchup with the Seahawks, who've allowed a lot of passing yardage so far. I think Driver will have a nice day against them. Finally, with your last spot, I'd probably lean towards Ocho Cinco, even with his poor play recently. Like you said, he faces a Jets team that's giving up 265 passing yards per game, and you figure that C.O.C. has to break out eventually, right? I'd take my chances with his upside over Engram's consistency but lower ceiling, unless of course it's a PPR league, in which case Engram is always a good play.

Doc,
I'm playing an undefeated team and division leader this week. We play 2 RBs, 2 WRs and a flex (RB/WR). I plan on starting Larry Fitzgerald and Steve Breaston because I have Kurt Warner, so I will get 1 point per reception as a result. My RBs are Le'Ron McClain and Darren McFadden. My question is, who do I start at flex: DeSean Jackson or Justin Fargas? I like DeSean's matchup with the 49ers more than Fargas' against New Orleans, especially after the way the Saints stopped Adrian Peterson cold on Monday night. Give me a prescription for my upset victory, Doc.

— Vexed at Flex

I'll try my best to help lead you to a big win this week. This decision would probably be much easier for you if Jackson weren't coming off a one-catch, eight-yard effort against the Redskins. He doesn't seem quite as reliable after that, but I'd still stick with the rookie for at least another week. He has the 49ers on Sunday, and they haven't exactly been great at stopping the pass early on. Plus, Jackson has a knack for the big game, and the Eagles may need him this week with RB Brian Westbrook looking doubtful. Meanwhile, Fargas is coming back from a groin injury this week and might be a bit rusty after not playing in nearly a month. Plus, he'll be sharing carries, and the Saints likely will stack the box and make Oakland beat them with the pass. All told, I'd hold off on Fargas this week and stick with the speedy Jackson as your flex guy.
