Dolphins working out former Cowboys QB Carter

Quincy Carter hasn’t taken a snap in the NFL since 2004 as a member of the Jets. His next action could be this season as a Dolphin. Coach Tony Sparano confirmed to the Palm Beach Post on Thursday that Carter is in Davie for a workout, but the coach stopped short of discussing how viable a possibility it is for the team to sign him.
A former second-round pick out of Georgia, Carter was the Cowboys’ starting quarterback from 2001 to 2003. In ’03 he played for Sparano and Bill Parcells, who’s now the Dolphins’ executive VP of football operations.
Miami has QBs Josh McCown, John Beck and Chad Henne currently in camp, and thus far the team has been underwhelmed by the latter two.
