A day after the Ravens saw OT Jared Gaither sprain an ankle and RB Willis McGahee suffer a lower leg injury, Baltimore sustained another big blow when starting DT Haloti Ngata was carted off the field Sunday afternoon with an injury to his right leg.
Ngata, 24, was injured in a pileup during a full-contact drill. He lay on the field for several minutes before being assisted to the sideline. He was carted to the locker room from there. ProFootballTalk.com quoted a league source as saying the injury is a mild sprain of the medial collateral ligament.
During the team's morning practice session, Ngata had gotten into it with TE Todd Heap after Heap and LB Jarret Johnson had squared off. Heap got a couple of punches in on Ngata before the two were separated.
