Ravens' OT depth being put to the test

By PFW staff
July 31, 2008

It has been a tough stretch for the Ravens' offensive tackles.

Rookie ORT Oniel Cousins was the latest to suffer an injury, leaving practice on Thursday after hurting his knee, The Baltimore Sun reported Thursday. Cousins was working with the first-team offense because Adam Terry, the expected starter at right tackle, suffered an ankle injury earlier in the week.

Cousins' injury led to yet another re-shuffling of the offensive line. According to the Sun, ex-Raiders OT Chad Slaughter, who last played an NFL game in 2006 and was signed only Wednesday, moved in at left tackle, with Mike Kracalik moving from left tackle to right tackle. Behind Kracalik and Slaughter are undrafted free agents Isaiah Wiggins and Joe Reitz, a converted tight end who missed the Thursday morning practice with a shoulder injury, per the Sun.

The Ravens' OT depth has been an issue since the outset of camp. OLT Jared Gaither, slated to replace the retired Jonathan Ogden, has yet to practice because of an ankle injury.
