NFL commissioner Roger Goodell will meet with the five Rooney brothers in the next few weeks to assist in the ongoing discussions about an ownership change in the Steelers, according to reports.
Goodell decided to arrange the meeting after being briefed by former commissioner Paul Tagliabue, who is working as a consultant during the process.
The Steelers announced last month that they were working to restructure the team’s ownership “in order to ensure compliance with NFL ownership policies.”
The Rooney family has a stake in gaming interests in New York and Florida, where they own racetracks. The NFL does not allow team owners to be involved in any kind of gambling.
