The Steelers have reached contract agreements with OLB-DE Bruce Davis, their third-round pick, and QB Dennis Dixon, their fifth-round selection, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Tuesday. Davis will receive a $506,000 signing bonus, the paper reported, while Dixon will receive $130,000 up front.
The 6-3, 252-pound Davis was a prolific pass rusher at UCLA, notching at least 12 sacks in each of his final two seasons. He is likely to primarily play outside linebacker in Pittsburgh's 3-4 scheme.
The 6-3, 206-pound Dixon is expected to be the Steelers' No. 3 quarterback as a rookie. A star quarterback at Oregon, Dixon was regarded as one of the favorites to win the Heisman Trophy in 2007 before tearing the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee late in the season.
