Druckenmiller confirms interest in buying Steelers

Stanley Druckenmiller, a Pittsburgh native and chairman of Duquesne Capital Management LLC, confirmed Thursday he is interested in buying the Steelers. Druckenmiller has pledged to keep the team in Pittsburgh.
"My primary objective is to do what is in the best interests of the Pittsburgh Steeler franchise, the fans, the city of Pittsburgh, the Rooney and McGinley families and the National Football League," Druckenmiller said in a statement.
The Rooneys are shopping stakes in the franchise as the team tries to get into compliance with NFL ownership rules.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported Friday that a source close to the Rooney family said that a wealthy family not located in Pittsburgh has contacted the Rooneys to express their interest in the Steelers.
