Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin said RB Rashard Mendenhall and WR Limas Sweed, the team's top two picks, are expected to sign and be with the club at the beginning of training camp on Sunday, the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reported Wednesday.
"We don't anticipate any of these guys having holdups as far as participating," Tomlin said Wednesday, according to the paper.
Mendenhall, the team's first-round pick, likely is to be the top backup to Willie Parker this season. Sweed, a second-round pick, probably will be the team's No. 4 wideout.
The Tribune-Review also reports that Tomlin said that Parker and SS Troy Polamalu are expected to be ready for the start of training camp. Parker's 2007 season was ended by a broken leg, while Polamalu was bothered by knee problems.
