Texans RB Ahman Green has agreed to restructure his contract for the upcoming season, likely guaranteeing his spot on the team's 53-man roster.
Green's base salary was due to be $3.8 million, but he could have made up to $4.2 million after bonuses. His new base salary is $1.8 million, freeing up $2 million in cap room for Houston.
To compensate Green for restructuring his deal, the Texans will pay him $200,000 for each game that he's active this season, beginning in Week Two. If Green remains healthy for all of 2008, this agreement will net him $3 million.
Green reportedly had been in some danger of being cut after injuring his groin in the first preseason game, and he has been sidelined ever since. He now appears safe to remain a Texan this season, but he'll be part of a backfield timeshare.
