When Lucas Oil Stadium, the recently constructed home of the Colts, opens its doors to the public for a self-guided tour on Aug. 16, some fans will be excited, some will be despondent. That's because the 100,000 free tickets the club made available were gone almost as quickly as the box office at Conseco Fieldhouse opened its windows.
When 80,000 tickets, which were free and limited to eight per person, were gone within an hour last week for four two-hour tours of the stadium, the team decided to hold a fifth tour to accommodate an additional 20,000 fans. Those were gone within 20 minutes, even though there was a reduced limit of only four per person. Many who had been waiting in line for hours were sent home ticket-less.
