According to mutiple reports, the Titans signed DT-DE Jason Jones, their second-round pick, to a four-year contract on Wednesday. Jones is expected to get most of his work at tackle in his rookie season.
The 6-5, 275-pound Jones was described in PFW's 2008 Draft Preview as a "very consistent and incredibly productive lineman" with "great initial first-step quickness at the snap." But Jones also had a tendency to "rise too tall off the ball and lose leverage" and "(needs) to spend more time in the weight room and get stronger."
RB Chris Johnson, the Titans' first-round pick, is the club's only remaining unsigned player.
The Titans reportedly also released five players, most notably veteran DE Bryce Fisher, who did not make much of an impact after being traded from Seattle last season. Also released were LB Jerrell Freeman, WR Jason Rivers, QB Paul Thompson and DT Eric Taylor.
