It took the Chiefs a while to start signing their '08 draft class, but they've certainly been on a roll in the past week. On Thursday, the team agreed to terms on a five-year contract with OL Branden Albert, the 15th overall pick in this year's draft. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Albert played guard during his time at the University of Virginia, but he's slated to be the Chiefs' Week One starter at left tackle, the most integral spot on the O-line. The supremely talented athlete started every game in his three-year college career, proving very durable.
In PFW’s 2008 Draft Preview book, draft analyst Nolan Nawrocki said Albert "has a rare blend of size and athleticism and has shown the ability to play at either left guard or tackle," adding that he "is still fairly raw but could dominate if he continues to get stronger and becomes more of a technician."
Kansas City has now signed 10 of its 12 draft choices. DT Glenn Dorsey, the fifth overall pick, remains without a contract.
