Chargers LB Shawne Merriman, who has two torn ligaments in his left knee, said Monday that he will do everything he can to play this season, according to an ESPN.com report.
Merriman was traveling to Miami on Monday to get another doctor's opinion on what his course of action should be. After visiting specialists in Alabama, Minnesota and New York last week, the linebacker indicated that this will be the last doctor he has examine his damaged knee.
Merriman said that he will consult with the Chargers and weigh his options once he returns to San Diego. He seems to be against having reconstructive surgery, which would keep him out for all of 2008, but could opt for a minor procedure that would only sideline him for part of the season.
