Bill Ford Jr.: Millen should leave Lions

By PFW staff
Sept. 22, 2008

Bill Ford Jr., son of Lions owner William Clay Ford, said he would have fired GM Matt Millen if he had the authority.

The younger Ford, the executive chairman of the Ford Motor Company, spoke to reporters Monday following a Detroit Economic Club meeting and said he was disappointed with the team and that fans deserve better. When asked about Millen, Ford told the assembled media he would have fired Millen but that he “doesn’t have that authority.”

His father, William Clay, does.

Following Sunday’s 31-13 loss at San Francisco, the Lions fell to 0-3 and are now 31-84 since Millen joined the team in 2000.
