Kelly Holcomb, who started three games for the Vikings last season but was let go by the team earlier this offseason, appears poised to retire from the NFL.
Various reports say Holcomb apparently will be a sideline reporter for Middle Tennessee State — he went to school there — radio broadcasts this fall.
Holcomb replaced an injured Tarvaris Jackson and completed 42-of-83 passes last season with two TDs and one interception. In 12 pro seasons with the Colts, Browns, Bills and Vikings, he started 24 games and threw for 5,916 yards with 39 TDs and 38 interceptions. He is perhaps best known for throwing for 429 yards for the Browns in a playoff loss to the Steelers in 2003.
