Jackson responds with nice second half in Vikings' win

The Vikings were in a little bit of trouble when struggling QB Gus Frerotte hobbled off the field before the end of the first half against the Lions, trailing 6-3 to the only winless team in the NFL. But backup Tarvaris Jackson, who became the first starter to lose his job this season, back in Week Three, took over for Frerotte (back injury) and rallied the Vikings to an important win, 20-16. Jackson led the team to ... Vikings face final four games without 'Williams Wall'

Vikings DT Kevin Williams

 Kevin Williams

The Vikings got the bad news Tuesday that their imposing DT tandem of Kevin Williams and Pat Williams will face league-imposed four-game suspensions for testing positive for a diuretic that can serve as a masking agent for performance-enhancing steroids. All told, six players were suspended, although it appears that one — Atlanta’s Grady Jackson — avoided suspension. The players had claimed that they didn’t know ... More>

Vikings fail to get ball in Peterson’s hands in fourth quarter

The Vikings ran only seven offensive plays in the fourth quarter in Sunday’s 19-13 loss to the Buccaneers in Tampa. RB Adrian Peterson did not touch the ball on any of them. Of course, it didn’t help that the Vikings fumbled twice, once on a kick return by Maurice Hicks with 5:29 remaining and once by Chester Taylor with 1:14 left. Peterson finished with 19 rushes for 85 yards and one reception for minus-three yards.

Peterson gives Vikings signature effort against Packers

Despite a poor day from QB Gus Frerotte, the Vikings were able to get a big win against the Packers, led by the rushing of RB Adrian Peterson, who now leads the NFL in rushing with 1,015 yards. Peterson carried the ball 30 times (tying a career high from his record 296-yard game against the Chargers last season) for 192 yards, and scored a 29-yard TD with 2:29 left to lift the Vikings to a 28-27 ... Vikings’ Williams looks good in debut after neck injury

FS Madieu Williams was one of the big-name and big-money free agents the Vikings brought in this summer with the hopes of fielding a team capable of winning a Super Bowl. But Williams, who signed a six-year, $33 million contract this offseason, had to wait until Sunday to make his Vikings debut, slowed by a neck injury he suffered early in training camp. Despite missing the first seven games, Williams looked good, making a crucial interception ... More>

Vikings don’t look like playoff team in win over Lions

The NFL standings say that the Vikings have as good a chance to win the NFC North as either the Bears or Packers, as all three teams are sitting at 3-3 with plenty of divisional games left to play against each other. But the Vikings struggled to beat the Lions — considered perhaps the worst team in the NFL by some — in a 12-10 victory decided on Ryan Longwell’s field goal in the final minute. The Vikings ... Vikings’ passing game littered with problems right now

The Vikings ran the ball very well against the Colts Sunday and led 15-0 in the second half, but the lack of a passing offense hurt them in the crushing, 18-15 loss. QB Tarvaris Jackson will take a lot of the blame following his 14-for-24 passing performance for just 130 yards and no touchdowns. Despite Adrian Peterson’s 160 rushing yards on 29 carries, the Vikings were unable to salt away the win, but head coach Brad ... More>
