The Rams officially announced the signing Sunday morning of Chris Long, the No. 2 overall selection in the 2008 NFL draft. The University of Virginia defensive end and son of current NFL Hall of Famer and Fox network broadcaster Howie Long is the fourth Rams draft choice to come to terms, joining third-round OL John Greco, fourth-round WR Keenan Burton and fifth-round OL Roy Schuening.

Terms of Long's contract were not immediately available, but Rams head coach Scott Linehan told the St. Louis Post-Dispatch that the deal covers at least five years.

"I was kind of anxious to get moving on this (Long's signing)," Linehan told the Post-Disaptach. "There's nothing guaranteed about when a guy's going to sign and be in camp. He was obviously a high-profile pick for us, and I'm really excited about it."
