In a wide-ranging pre-training camp press conference Tuesday at the Rams' new camp site in Mequon, Wis., head coach Scott Linehan indicated that the team was likely to put veteran OT Orlando Pace, who is coming off shoulder surgery that forced him to miss practically the entire 2007 season, on the physically-unable-to-perform list at the start of camp.

"The anticipation is probably going to be PUP for a week or so, maybe shorter, maybe longer," Linehan said of Pace. "He'll be close, but I think we have to be a little conservative with our approach just because of what happened."

Linehan also said he doubted the team's two remaining unsigned draft picks (second-round WR Donnie Avery and fourth-round CB Justin King) would be signed before camp.

"I don't think so," Linehan said. "With Donnie … once you start getting the guys signed around him, that becomes an issue so you're able to figure out what the market is for him and those kind of things, but I have really no concern at all."

The Rams officially announced the signing of seventh-round LB David Vobora shortly after Linehan's press conference.
