About PFW Online

1. What is PFW Online and how does it fit into the PFW Inner Circle?
PFW Online is the electronic version of our flagship product Pro Football Weekly in Print and is the first of our print publications to be offered in electronic format. From its inception, the ProFootballWeekly.com Web site has featured articles from our print edition. Today, we do still feature some print content like The Way We Hear It and the Publisher's Pen but the vast majority of content on our Web site is prepared exclusively for the Internet. That said, for those of you who only know us because of our Internet site, you're in for a big surprise because this new product is packed with a lot of great football reading. You can access the new PFW Online channel from the navigation bar on the left.

2. I'm already a reader of the Pro Football Weekly print edition - Why would I be interested in PFW Online?
Because our content is so time-sensitive during the football season, many readers want to see it as soon as possible after the weekly football games have been played. Barring unforeseen electronic difficulties, the electronic version of Pro Football Weekly is guaranteed to be available - to anyone/anywhere with an Internet connection - by 7:00 p.m. ET on Monday night. That's less than 24 hours after the last Sunday game has been played! In addition to timeliness and availability, there are many more reasons to subscribe to PFW Online. Read on ...

Top of page

3. What is "interactive linking to web pages"?
Because we go to press right after the Sunday night games, our statistics do not include the Monday night game for the week. By using a feature called "interactive linking to web pages", we have linked the NFL Statistics pages in the PDF directly to matching content on our Web site. By Tuesday afternoon, the original statistics that appear in the PDF will be updated with the Monday night results and be available to our PFW Online subscribers in the NFL Statistics channel. As we continue to publish PFW Online, we will look for more ways to update original print content by interactively linking it to updated information on our Web site.

4. Can I see a sample of this before I buy it?
You sure can because we want you to know exactly what you'll be getting. The sample you can look at is the complete copy of one of our in-season issues. Click here to see the table of contents and to view it.

5. I'm a prior Inner Circle subscriber so how can I sign up for PFW Online now?
Make sure you are logged on to the PFW Inner Circle before you subscribe to PFW Online. That way, you will have the same log on and the subscriber registration process will go a lot faster too because your member profile information will appear for verification. Click on the PFW Online channel at the left to sign up now.

Hint: Whenever you log on to the PFW Inner Circle, make sure to check the box under your Customer ID and email address that says "Login automatically". That way, whenever you open a browser and go to ProFootballWeekly.com, you'll be logged in automatically and have a seamless viewing of your premium and free content.

8. Can I just buy a single copy of one issue?
Yes, you can buy a single copy of any issue for $4.99 in our PFW Store but you will not have access to the archived issues with this purchase. This is not considered a "PFW Online subscription" and as such, it has some limitations in the way you can view the issue. See "About one-view single copy purchases" below. To purchase a single copy, go to The PFW Store  and click on the E-Pubs catalog.

9. Once I have a subscription, what's the quickest way to get to the content?
You'll always have every issue just a click away if you use the PFW Online Program Guide located under PFW Online to your left. Here you'll find our current issue featured as well as a schedule of the remaining issues and availability. You'll also see thumbnails for each of the archived issues and clicks for easy viewing. Bookmark the PFW Online Program Guide and you'll be set for the season.

What you'll get with each issue

16. How do I know what's in each issue?
Each issue will be presented on two pages. One page will be your "table of contents" page for the issue. The other page will be your "view" page and it will give you a button to click to open the PDF version of the issue. If you do not already have Adobe® Reader®, you'll see a link on every view page to download the required software. Click on Volume 22 - 2007 located under PFW Online to your left for a full summary of links to this season's content and click on Volume 18 - 2003, Volume 19 - 2004, Volume 20 - 2005, or Volume 21 - 2006 for prior seasons' content.

Top of page

17. I need a copy of Adobe® Reader® to view this content so how do I get this Adobe® Reader® software?
The Adobe® Reader® software is available free-of-charge from Adobe Systems Inc. Click here to download a copy of the software. It's available for the PC or the Mac.

Top of page

18. How do I view the issue?
First, make sure you have version 5 or above of Adobe® Reader® software on your computer. Earlier versions of the Adobe® Reader® software will not work properly with PFW Online content. From a view page, all you have to do is click on the PFW Online button. The Adobe® Reader® will launch in a new window over the Web site and the issue will be opened. You should see a lefthand column of bookmarks (links) and the cover of the issue in a full-width display across your browser window. The default is for the content to flow continuously from page to page. Use the arrows at the bottom of your browser to navigate the pages of the issue. If you need to rotate a page to view it (like the Team Statistics), use the tools on the toolbar above the content.

Top of page

19. What if the content is too small for me to read?
The default setting is for the issue to fit the width of your browser. Because Pro Football Weekly is normally printed as a tabloid-sized newsmagazine, the content has to be reduced to less than its normal size to fit in the window. If the content is too small for you to read easily, just use the magnification settings at the top of your Adobe® Reader® window and find a size that's comfortable for you. Be prepared though to scroll from left to right if you resize your page to a higher magnification.

Top of page

20. How do I navigate and find my way around the issue?
The bookmarks (links running along the lefthand edge of the Adobe® Reader® window) replace the table of contents you would normally use in printed material. PFW Online content has been highly indexed so that you can easily find exactly what you're looking for. If you are familiar with our print edition, the PFW Online content is exactly the same in look and feel. However, we have removed some advertising so you may see a greyscale box without content in it from time to time. Click on any of the bookmarks and you'll be sent right to the content in the issue. If you are reading a multi-page article and see "continued on...", click on it and you'll be sent to the remainder of the article. You will also find "hotspots" on the cover of the issue that will send you directly to the content that is featured on our covers. Finally, like any PDF, your content is fully-searchable to find your favorite things subjects. Use the search tool on the toolbar above the content.

21. Some pages in the PDF have a yellow pop-up note in the top right-hand corner of the page. What does that mean?
These pages which are all in the Fantasy Statistics or NFL Statistics sections of the issue use an interactive linking feature directly into matching content on our Web site. By doing this, we can give you two added benefits over the print edition. First, you'll be able to read and use the statistics in a much more user-friendly way and you'll be able to see the full lists of statistics for all weeks of the season. Second, we'll update the statistics after the Monday night game and publish the updated statistics on our Web site by 3:00 p.m. ET on Tuesdays. Just click anywhere on these interactive PDF pages to get the most up-to-date content from our Web site.

22. Can I save a copy of the PDF to my desktop so it's more portable and I don't have to stay connected to the Internet?
You may save a single copy of a PDF for your own personal use on your computer. Please refer to the Terms of Use for PFW Inner Circle for more details. Typically, PDFs will be 2.5Mb to 3.0Mb in size so downloading a copy of a PDF without a high-speed Internet connection may take awhile.

Top of page

23. Can I print a copy of the issue so it's more portable and I can take it wherever I go?

You may print a copy of an issue for your own personal use. Please refer to the Terms of Use for PFW Inner Circle for more details. The best printed results will be gained if you print the issue using a laser printer on 8 1/2" x 11" paper stock.

Top of page

24. Will ALL of the PFW staff selections be available in PFW Online?
YES!  To the many loyal readers of our Handicapper's Corner who have called in to say the PFW consensus picks just aren't enough, here's how to get every PFW editor's picks ... subscribe to PFW Online!

26. I can't open the PDF because I don't have a copy of Adobe® Reader® on my computer. What should I do?
